Percy starts PGA season in fine form

Sep 25, 2019

Cameron Percy is back on the main PGA Tour this 2019/20 season and after just a few weeks he’s gone a long way to securing his full card for next year!
Many of the big names and world’s top ranked players are still relaxing before they begin their new year and that allows some of the lower ranked players to get a jump on the field – and that’s exactly what Percy has done. He was right in contention at the Sanderson Farms Championship, just three shots off the lead after three rounds. He finished T11, collected USD$153k and has leapt to 23rd on the FedEx Cup standings.
In a very international leaderboard, Sebastian Munoz (Columbia) defeated Sungjae Im (in a playoff) and Byeong Hun An (3rd) both from the Republic of Korea, with Kevin Streelman (US) and Carlos Ortiz (Mexico) in T4.
Cameron Davis finished two shots back from Percy on -9 (T28). Unfortunately Allenby, Gibson, Senden and Smith missed the cut, while our biggest names didn’t play. The Tour moves to Napa Valley in California this week.
On the PGA Champion’s Tour, mainstays Stephen Leaney and David McKenzie continued their consistent form, finishing T32 and T25 respectively.
The PGA China Tour was the only other men’s Tour to play this past week and Andy Wilkin topped the Aussie list finishing T9, his second Top 10 of the season moving him to 47th in the OOM of that Tour.
James Grierson, Max McCardle and Tim Stewart probably aren’t familiar names to most Aussie fans, but they’re Australians honing their craft in China and they all made the Cut at the Zhuzhou Classic.
After a few weeks break, the LPGA kicks off again at the Indy Women in Tech Championship in Indianapolis. In form Hannah Green and Minjee Lee will again lead the Australian charge.
