The architect of the Sydney Superdome and the Sydney Aquatic Centre has turned it sights on Port Stephens, designing the Fairway Houses for Pacific Dunes.
Construction and fit-out of two of eighteen Cox Richardson-designed houses are now complete, with the Fairway Homes Display Suite officially opened today.
Priced from $675,000, the homes set a new standard for architecturally designed houses in Medowie, and bring renowned Sydney architecture firm Cox Richardson to the Hunter region.
Set along the length of the golf course, the prestige Fairway precinct is the perfect location for the Cox Richardson-designed homes, drawn to take advantage of the open, airy sites.
The look is elegant, contemporary and timeless, creating stylish homes with classic appeal.
Verandas and natural finishes define the exteriors, with a palette of materials compatible with the golf course an surrounding bushland used consistently throughout the residential areas.
Cox-Richardson Director Philip Graus said the homes overlooking the fairway had been designed as a series of connected pavilions with courtyards and terraces that caught the sun and offered privacy, as well as spectacular views of the golf course.
“The materials we’ve used on the homes include plenty of timber with features such as large eave overhangs which make them sympathetic to their surrounds and give them a distinctive character,” Mr Graus said.
“These Fairway homes really have been designed to fit in with the environment and to create for their residents a sense of being at home.”
Simple, rather than simplistic, the Fairway homes have been built to timeless principles that create well-organised, classic spaces with clean rooflines and practical layout.
“There is nothing about them that will date; they feature the best of modern practice with architectural principles that work – these are homes that fit the Australian vernacular,” Mr Graus said.
“Sun-filled, open-plan living spaces offering wide views of the fairways and the greens with flowing indoor-outdoor living spaces.”
Pacific Dunes is the result of a vision to create a residential golfing community encompassing architectural design excellence on par with an international-standard golf course and its facilities.
Since its opening in April, people from all over the country are discovering Pacific Dunes’ advantages; and as each stage of the residential community is released to the market, lots are being snapped up by those keen to live the good life on a Troon-maintained and managed golf course.
Set on 135 hectares, Pacific Dunes comprises 450 residential dwellings with choices including Fairway homes, Hillside allotments and Villas.
Recreational facilities now open are a Golf Villa overlooking the fairway with a bar, restaurant and pro golf shop as well as a golf practice range and putting green. Once Pacific Dunes is complete, it will offer a swimming pool, tennis courts, barbecue facilities, scenic nature trails, parkland and a stunning permanent clubhouse.
