The PGA of Australia

Founded in 1911, The PGA of Australia is the second oldest PGA in the world, comprised of more than 2,000 dedicated men and women promoting the game of golf to everyone, everywhere.

PGA Professionals, who are expert instructors, skilled businesspersons and community leaders, are the backbone of The PGA of Australia. Through comprehensive study and training in a variety of disciplines, PGA Professionals are uniquely qualified to teach the game and conduct the business of golf. As a result, PGA Professionals enhance the enjoyment and overall experience for the more than 1.4 million golfers in Australia.

The Association’s origins date back to 1911, when a group of ex-patriot Scottish golf professionals formed a national organisation which would promote the game of golf and help elevate the vocation of the golf professional.

Each year the PGA of Australia stages over 430 tournaments from the Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship to the state based Pro-Am circuits which take professional golf to the masses.

Grass roots events such as the Holden Scramble help to fulfil our charter with over 50,000 people playing this event each year in over 530 qualifying events.
