World #1 Scottie Scheffler wins again

Jun 24, 2024

World #1 Scottie Scheffler has confirmed his status as the World’s Number One ranked player, with a sixth PGA victory for the season at the 2024 Travelers Championship at TPC Highlands, Cromwell, Connecticut. He’s just the fourth player (ninth instance) since 1983 to win six times in a season (Tiger Woods the most recent in 2009) and he’s the first to record six wins before July since Arnold Palmer in 1962.

Despite a disappointing week at last week’s US Open (T41), Scheffler returned to fine form for his 12th PGA Tour victory in his 126th start. He edged out an unlucky Tom Kim on the first hole of a sudden death playoff.

It is Scheffler’s sixth win in his last 10 starts on Tour and he’s finished outside the Top 10 just twice in 15 starts this season (T17 – The American express and T41 US Open).

Surpassing a staggering US$27 million in official prize money this season, he holds a huge 2,511 FedExCup point lead over second placed Xander Schauffele.

Kim, a three time winner on Tour finished second for a second time, after his runner up result at the 2023 Open Championship.

Adam Scott was the best placed Aussie in T38 (-8), with Jason Day T44 (-6) and Cam Davis T48 (-5).
