With the future of LIV Golf and therefore Adelaide’s flagship golf event LIV Golf Adelaide in jeopardy beyond this year, the SA Government has made another substantial investment in sport by securing an Australian Open every year from 2028-2034 (three men’s and three women’s events).
The new home of the Australian Golf Open in 2028 will be at the redeveloped North Adelaide Golf Course – situated only minutes from the Adelaide CBD. The new Greg Norman design is highly anticipated and this signing is an important step in securing the Australia Golf Open’s future in the short to mid-term.
Adelaide major events now boasts LIV Golf (future unlikely) as well as Gather Round in the AFL and it’s the new host city for the Moto Grand Prix (stolen from Victoria’s Phillip Island). They have recently made bids for the Grand Prix and other marquee events as well as adding major infrastructure in the CBD with the redevelopment of the Adelaide Oval and associated precinct.
