DeChambeau wins US Open

Jun 24, 2024

The 2024 US Open played at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club's Course #2 was its usual ultimate test of golf, with only 8 players finishing in the red after 4 rounds. Ultimately the long players again reigned supreme, with big hitting Bryson DeChambeau prevailing by one shot from North Irishman Rory McIlroy.

However it wasn’t just brute strength that won Bryson his second US Open, with his sublime 50 metre third shot on the final hole from a bunker to inside a metre clinching him the title.

The LIV Golfer is certainly one of the hottest on Tour at the moment, especially in Majors, after finishing one shot shy of Xander Schauffele at last month’s USPGA Championship.

Tony Finau and Patrick Cantlay finished a further shot back (276, -4) in T3, with Matthew Pavon 5, Hideki Matsuyama 6 and Russell Henely and Xander Schauffele T7 the players under par for the four days.

Australia’s Min Woo Lee finished on +5 to get inside the Top 25 (T21), with Adam Scott and Cameron Smith T32 also playing on the weekend.
Jason Scrivener, Jason Day and Cam Davis all missed the cut.
