Last chance for Aussies to qualify for FedExCup playoff at Wyndham Championship

Jul 31, 2025

The PGA Tour season ending Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club is the last chance for players to grab a spot in the lucrative FedExCup Playoffs. The Top 70 players get a chance to play in the three event post season.

It’s probably no surprise to see who is at the top of the table, with Scottie Scheffler heading the list and Rory McIlroy in second position.

The first Australian in the standings is Jason Day (#36) and he’s assured of a start in Playoffs even though he isn’t starting at the event. Min Woo Lee sits in 49th position however he’s not playing and predicted to drop out of the FedExCup race. Cam Davis is the only other Aussie in the Top 70 (currently #67) but he’s no guarantee to make it – he’ll need a good finish to ensure he stays in that Top 70 to move on. So it’s possible we’ll only have one Aussie in the Playoffs!

Outside the top 70 is Adam Scott, a real surprise considering he has had a solid year, with top 20 finishes in the US Open (12th) and US PGA (19th). Scott has only missed the FedExCup Playoffs once since 2007, but currently sits in 85th position and he’s in need of a big week to move on. In fact he needs to finish in a 2-way tie for third or better to make it through. Australian Karl Vilips sits in a similar position to Scott (83rd) so he’ll need a similar result to qualify.

All in all it’s been a pretty lean year in both the Majors and FedExCup race for the Australian men – let’s hope 2026 delivers a better outcome.
