Entering the final round of the Women’s US Open at Lancaster Country Club, Australia’s Minjee Lee held a three-way share of the lead. Her third round 66 was the equal best round of the day and she looked poised to win her third major.
After the 7th hole in Lee’s final round, she held a three shot lead despite bogey’s on the third and sixth hole – it appeared to be her day.
However bogeys on the 9th and 10th holes loosened her grip on the title. Double bogeys on 12 and 14 sealed her fate and another bogey on 15 ended the quest. She signed for a final round 78 (+8) to slip to T9 in a heart breaking day.
Japan’s Yuka Saso won on -4, three shots ahead of countryman Hinako Shibuno (-1). Americans Ally Ewing and Andrea Lee finished T3 on Even par.
Australian Hannah Green continued her good form finishing T16 (+5), her opening 76 not the start she wanted. Sarah Kemp finished T29, with Gabriela Ruffels T51. Stephanie Kyriacou and amateur Keeley Marx missed the cut.
