The script was possibly predictable. The 2026 TOUR Championship, the winner to be crowned FedExCup Titile winner. World #1 Scottie Scheffler was never out of the Top 10 as the rounds at East Lake progressed. After round one he was T5, round two T5, round three T3 (three shots behind overnight leader Viktor Hovland) and then he strikes – carding a final round 66 to win by three shots from Hovland, the only player in the last three groups to break par, for a decisive six shot turnaround and three shot margin.
It was Scheffler’s second career FedExCup Title (2024, 2026), joining Tiger Woods (2007, 2009) and Rory McIlroy (2016, 2019, 2022) as the only players with multiple FedExCup titles
It was his 22nd career win in his 170th PGA TOUR start at the age of 30 years and he becomes the 31st player to reach 22 career wins on the PGA TOUR, sitting T29 on the all-time wins list in PGA TOUR history.
With the win, he earnt $10M and moves atop the PGA TOUR’s Career Money List: Scottie Scheffler (1st/$130,390,661), Tiger Woods (2nd/$120,999,166), Rory McIlroy (3rd/$119,555,514). Of course Woods never played for a purse as big as that available at the TOUR Championship, but in seven career starts at the TOUR Championship, he has two wins and six finishes of T6 or better.
Scheffler entered the TOUR Championship ranked No. 1 in the FedExCup standings for the fifth time in his career, the most by any player in the FedExCup era (next best: Tiger Woods, three times).
Only two Aussies played in the event, with Min Woo Lee starting in spectacular style carding an opening 62 (-8) to lead all comers. A second round 73 saw him slip back through the field however he rallied and finished with rounds of 66 and 68 to tie for 4th and a fat cheque.
Adam Scott again rolled back the years with rounds of 66, 67 and 65, moving him into a T3 after 54 holes. He faded unfortunately and two final hole bogeys saw him relegated into a tie for 11th – still not a bad week for the evergreen Aussie!
2023 FedExCup Champion Viktor Hovland (2nd/-13) carded a 2-over 72 after leading by one stroke entering the final round.
In his TOUR Championship debut, Ryan Gerard (3rd/-12) finished solo-third after entering the final round one back and carding a 2-over 72.
Three-time FedExCup Champion Rory McIlroy (T4/-11) led the field in total birdies this week (23) but ranked second in total holes of bogey-or-worse (13). It was his ninth straight appearance in the TOUR Championship, the longest active streak by any player.
Tommy Fleetwood (-10) finished T11 in his attempt to become the first back-to-back winner of the FedExCup, while Cameron Young (T11/-10) led the field this week in SG: Off the Tee (3.713) but ranked 28th in SG: Around the Green (-3.266)
Justin Rose (T18/-7) aced the par-3 ninth hole with a 6-iron for his fourth career hole-in-one on TOUR and first on the par-3 ninth hole since Xander Schauffele (2019/R3)
