Team USA wins Presidents Cup - again!

Sep 30, 2024

After a topsy-turvy start that saw Team USA win the opening five matches on Day One and the International Team do the same on Day Two, the 2024 Presidents Cup followed a similar path of the past two decades – a win to Team USA.

It was a 13th Presidents Cup victory for Team USA and 10th straight, in another dominating away win at Royal Montreal Golf Club, Quebec, CANADA. On Day Three, the United States won both rounds 3 to 1, to take a four point lead into the final day of singles matches.

Although no International player was blown away by their American counterpart in the singles matches except for our own Jason Day (lost 4 and 3), it was another emphatic victory for the USA, their second biggest victory (18 ½ points to 11 ½ - seven points) behind their 8 point triumph in 2015.

2025 Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley clinched the winning point with a 1-up victory over Si Woo Kim. Other highlights included;

  • World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler loses Singles match against Hideki Matsuyama, one of three Singles wins by Internationals
  • One of three Canadians in the field, the most ever in a Presidents Cup, Corey Conners records only Singles victory by a Canadian in the 2024 event, posting the largest margin of victory in Sunday’s Singles with a 5-and-3 victory over Tony Finau
  • After no ties through all team sessions (second time in Presidents Cup history; other: 2000), three Singles matches tie: Sam Burns (U.S.)/Tom Kim (INT), Wyndham Clark (U.S.)/Min Woo Lee (INT), and Sahith Theegala (U.S.)/Byeong Hun An (INT)
  • Nine players played all five rounds:

International (5): Corey Conners, Sungjae Im, Hideki Matsuyama, Taylor Pendrith, Adam Scott. U.S. (4): Patrick Cantlay, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler.

Aussie Adam Scott had the equal best record of the International Team with 2 wins and 3 losses. Jason Day finished with one win and two losses, while Min Woo Lee played twice for a loss and a tie.
