Home grown Robert MacIntyre wins Scottish Open

Jul 15, 2024

Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre has won his second PGA Tour title of his career and second for this year and this one could not have been sweeter. After victory at the RBC Canadian Open, he’s taken out his home crown – the Genesis Scottish Open at Royal Berwick.

A final round 67 (-3) saw him finish on -18 (262), just one shot ahead of our own Adam Scott, who also finished the day on -3. Scott collects his 15th career runner-up finish on TOUR and first since the 2021 Wyndham Championship; after entering the week at No. 71 in the FedExCup, he moves to No. 49 with his second top-10 finish of the season.

Macintyre thoroughly deserved his victory, playing the final five holes at The Renaissance Club in 4-under. He holed a cracking 8 metre putt on the last for birdie and to deny Scott the chance of a playoff.

MacIntyre is a great story, from a working class family and with foster parents and the PGA Tour website gives a great wrap up of the day and his story READ HERE.

Frenchman Robert Lanfasque finished 3rd on -15, while two Irishmen - Aaron Rai and Rory McIlroy - shared T4 on -14 with Sungjae Im, Sahith Theegala, Collin Morikawa and Ludvig Aberg. It was a star studded leaderboard as players prepare for this week’s Open Championship, again in Scotland, at the famed Royal Troon.

Aussie Cam Davis finished T26 (-10) in another good performance leading into the final major of the year, while Min Woo Lee finished a disappointing 73rd. Jason Scrivener missed the cut.
